In a peaceful village lived two friends, Somu and Raghu. Somu was a hardworking man who cherished his wife, Nila, and their simple, happy home. Raghu, however, was never satisfied with what he had. He spent his days looking at what others possessed, feeling that his own life was lacking.
One evening, while Somu was away at work, Raghu stood near Somu's gate, watching the warmth and harmony of their household. Instead of feeling happy for his friend, a dark thought crept into his mind. He began to covet the peace and the bond that Somu and Nila shared. He felt that if he could just step into Somu's life, he would be happier. He was standing on the threshold of another man's happiness, driven by a foolish desire to claim what wasn't his.
The next morning, Somu noticed the strange look in Raghu's eyes. Sensing his friend's inner turmoil, Somu sat him down and said kindly, 'Raghu, true peace comes from nurturing our own gardens, not from peering into our neighbor's windows. To desire what belongs to another's home is to lose oneself in foolishness.'
Raghu felt a sharp sting of shame. He realized that by longing for Somu's family life, he was disrespecting his friend and devaluing his own life. He understood that the greatest folly is to stand outside a neighbor's door with a heart full of greed. From that day on, Raghu focused on building his own happiness.
