In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Arjun and his grandfather. Arjun had a very kind heart and loved all living creatures. One afternoon, while playing with his friend Rohan, Arjun noticed Rohan eating a large piece of meat.
'Why are you eating that, Rohan?' Arjun asked curiously.
'Because it tastes good and makes me strong!' Rohan replied with a shrug.
Arjun looked sad. 'But Rohan, that animal gave up its life just to be on your plate. If we hurt others to make ourselves bigger or stronger, how can we say we are kind?'
That evening, Arjun shared his thoughts with his grandfather. The old man nodded wisely and said, 'Arjun, true kindness means feeling the pain of others as your own. If a person seeks to nourish their own flesh by consuming the flesh of another, how can they truly possess a heart of mercy?'
Rohan, who overheard this conversation later, felt a deep pang in his heart. He realized that his strength shouldn't come at the cost of another's life. From that day on, Rohan chose to live with kindness toward all living beings.
