The Seed of Kindness

In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Arjun and his grandfather. Arjun's grandfather tended to a magnificent garden with immense care. One afternoon, while helping him, Arjun asked, 'Grandpa, why do you spend so much time nurturing every single plant?' The grandfather smiled gently and said, 'Arjun, if we do not take care of what we possess, we will soon have nothing. In the same way, kindness is not just a feeling; it is an action. Those who do not show compassion toward living beings cannot truly claim to be kind.' Later that day, Arjun saw a small, tired sparrow struggling to find food in the dry bushes. His first instinct was to catch it and keep it in a cage to play with. But then, he remembered his grandfather's words. Instead of capturing it, he placed a small bowl of water and some grains on the porch. As the sparrow chirped happily and ate its fill, Arjun felt a warmth in his heart he had never known before. He realized that true kindness means respecting and protecting life, just as we protect what is ours.
