In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Leo. His father was a hardworking and honest woodcutter. One sunny morning, a stranger arrived in the village. He was a very handsome man with a soft, soothing voice and a constant, charming smile. He introduced himself as a great philanthropist who loved helping the poor.
Everyone in the village admired him. One day, Leo's father went to meet this man to discuss some business. The stranger spoke very kindly, saying, 'My dear friend, give your savings to me. I will manage them and return double the amount to you very soon.' Trusting the man's sweet words, Leo's father handed over his hard-earned money.
However, a few days later, the man vanished. It turned out that all his kind words were just a mask for his greed. Leo's father was heartbroken and lost everything.
Seeing his sadness, Leo's father picked up a small, bright red berry from the forest floor. 'Look at this berry, Leo,' he said gently. 'It looks so vibrant and beautiful on the outside, doesn't it? But look closely at the center. There is a tiny, pitch-black spot. That blackness is its true core. Some people are just like this berry—sweet on the outside, but dark and dishonest on the inside.'
Leo realized that a person's kindness cannot always be judged by their face or their voice.
