In a bustling market town lived a merchant named Arjun. Arjun was clever, but he had a restless desire to grow wealthy quickly through shortcuts. One day, a wealthy trader gave him a bundle of fine silks and suggested a dishonest plan: 'Sell these as if they are ordinary cotton, and pocket the extra gold.' Arjun saw an opportunity. He began selling cheap, low-quality fabrics to unsuspecting villagers while charging them the price of premium silk. Soon, Arjun’s coffers were overflowing with gold. He built a grand house and wore the finest clothes. However, his prosperity was built on sand. A group of villagers, realizing they had been cheated, gathered to demand justice. At the same time, the wealthy trader returned to claim a debt that Arjun had hidden. To pay the debts and the fines for his deception, Arjun had to sell everything he owned. Within weeks, his grand house was gone, and his gold had vanished. He realized too late that wealth gained through deceit might seem to grow, but it eventually drains away entirely.
