The Shadow and the Light

In a peaceful village lived a boy named Leo. Leo had a bad habit; he loved to make fun of people and point out their flaws. In the same village lived Mr. Thomas, an elderly man known for his immense kindness and patience. Whenever Mr. Thomas helped someone, Leo and his friends would whisper and laugh, 'Why does he bother with such small things?' or 'He is too slow!' One evening, Leo's father, seeing this, took him to the edge of the forest. He pointed to a small wildflower growing near a massive, ancient oak tree. 'Leo,' his father said, 'this flower enjoys the shade of the oak, but it never tries to grow strong like the tree. It only mocks the tree's heavy branches. People with small hearts are like that; they enjoy being near great people, but they never truly try to learn from them or become like them.' Leo felt a sting in his heart. He realized that by mocking Mr. Thomas, he was showing his own smallness. From that day on, Leo stopped the teasing and started observing Mr. Thomas, hoping to learn the kindness he held within.
