The Light Within

In a bright, sunny village lived a boy named Arjun. Arjun had everything a child could want—shiny toys, delicious sweets, and beautiful books. Yet, Arjun was always gloomy. He rarely smiled and often complained that life was boring. One morning, his grandfather, a wise man named Madhav, said, 'Arjun, come with me. Let’s take a walk through the meadow.' Arjun sighed and followed, dragging his feet. As they walked, the sun shone brilliantly, colorful butterflies danced in the breeze, and birds sang melodious songs. But Arjun saw none of it. He was too busy brooding over a small scratch on his toy car. Suddenly, they came across a tiny sparrow that had fallen from its nest and was shivering in the shade. Seeing the small, helpless creature, something stirred in Arjun's heart. He knelt down, offered some water, and gently shielded the bird from the wind. When the sparrow finally chirped and flapped its wings, a sudden wave of joy washed over Arjun. For the first time that day, he looked up. He noticed the golden sunlight filtering through the leaves and the vibrant green of the grass. Madhav smiled and said, 'Do you see, Arjun? The world is always beautiful. But if we do not find joy within ourselves, even the brightest day will feel like total darkness.' Arjun realized that the world hadn't changed; only his heart had.
