In a peaceful kingdom lived Princess Malar. She loved her husband, Prince Kathir, more than anything in the world. One afternoon, while sitting in the royal garden, Malar was talking to her friends about him. 'Kathir is the kindest soul and the bravest warrior I know,' she said with a smile. However, as she spoke of his greatness, her friends noticed something strange. Even though her words were full of praise, Malar’s face looked pale and weary. Her eyes lacked their usual sparkle. Her friend, Meena, asked gently, 'Malar, you speak so highly of him, but why does your face look so lifeless?' Malar sighed softly. 'It is true that he is wonderful, and everything I say about him is because of his excellence. But my heart is so full of thoughts of him that I have forgotten to care for myself. My longing for him is written on my face.' Malar realized that while her words were true, her physical appearance could not hide the deep ache of her heart.
