In a peaceful village, a man named Mani lived in a cozy cottage with his two dogs, Mani and Shakti. While Mani was a calm and disciplined dog, Shakti was full of mischief and restless energy.
Shakti loved to cause trouble. Every time a neighbor walked past the gate, he would bark loudly and lunge at them, trying to nip at their heels. People began to fear walking past Mani's house. Soon, the villagers gathered and complained to Mani, "Your dog is making everyone uncomfortable! You must do something about his behavior."
To teach Shakti a lesson, Mani decided to restrain him. He took a thick, heavy iron chain and fastened it around Shakti's neck, tethering him to a sturdy old tree in the yard. Instead of feeling sad, Shakti felt incredibly important. He thought the heavy chain was a sign of his great strength and status. He began running in circles, making the chain clank loudly against the metal ring, enjoying the attention he thought he was getting.
Seeing this, Mani, the calm dog, approached him. "Stop that noise, Shakti!" Mani barked sternly. "You think that chain makes you look powerful, but it actually shows everyone that you cannot be trusted. You aren't a leader; you are just a prisoner of your own bad habits. This noise won't bring you respect; it only brings you trouble."
Shakti stopped mid-run. For the first time, he realized that the heavy chain wasn't a trophy of his bravery, but a consequence of his naughtiness. He felt a wave of regret as he realized his actions had cost him his freedom. From that day on, Shakti learned to be calm and respectful toward everyone.
Moral
Boasting and mischief do not bring respect; they only bring consequences.
