In a vast, emerald forest, there lived a mighty Lion King. The Lion was a very spiritual creature and held a deep respect for the divine laws of nature. One afternoon, driven by a fierce hunger, the Lion spotted a Zebra grazing peacefully near a stream. With a sudden burst of speed, the Lion lunged and trapped the Zebra.
Terrified, the Zebra thought of a clever way to escape. "Oh, Great King!" the Zebra pleaded, "Please spare my life. Do you not see these black stripes on my body? They are sacred markings blessed by the heavens. It is a divine rule that no king shall touch a creature marked by the gods."
The Lion, believing in the sanctity of such signs, felt ashamed of his hunger and let the Zebra go. Word of this spread quickly through the forest. The Zebras, feeling invincible, began to mock the Lion. They would dance near him while he slept and run right under his nose, thinking they were protected by a divine shield.
Feeling disrespected, the Lion decided to teach them a lesson. He sent messengers to a neighboring territory to invite a pack of powerful Tigers to help him manage the forest. When the Tigers arrived, they began to hunt the Zebras. One Tiger caught a Zebra, and the Zebra cried out, "Stop! Look at my stripes! They are holy!"
The Tiger laughed deeply. "Foolish creature! Look at the stripes on my own skin. Do you think these were placed there to protect you? These markings are my strength to hunt! The Lion did not call us to protect you; he called us to show you that no lie can hide you from the truth."
The Zebras realized their mistake too late. By using a lie to escape once, they had invited a much greater danger upon themselves. They understood that while a trick might save you for a moment, it cannot protect you from the consequences of your actions.
