In a dense forest lived a fox named Swift. One afternoon, Swift felt an unbearable hunger. He searched everywhere for berries or small insects, but nothing satisfied his stomach. Driven by hunger, he decided to approach the edge of a nearby village.

There, a shepherd was guarding a large flock of sheep. The sheep looked plump and healthy. Swift thought to himself, 'If I can just grab one, I will feast for days.' He crept silently through the tall grass, planning to ambush a sheep. However, the shepherd was very alert. Sensing a movement in the bushes, he grabbed his heavy staff and shouted loudly. Startled, Swift scrambled away into the shadows.

After resting for a while, Swift wandered closer to the shepherd's small cottage. He watched as the shepherd carefully led the sheep into a sturdy wooden pen, ensuring they were safe from the cold night. Swift felt a sense of admiration. 'What a kind man,' he thought. 'He protects his animals with such care and devotion.'

But the admiration quickly turned to terror. A short while later, the shepherd emerged from his house carrying a sharp knife. Swift watched from a distance as the man selected a sheep to prepare for a market. In that moment, the fox realized a bitter truth: the shepherd’s care was not born of love, but of greed. He was not protecting them as friends, but as products to be sold.

Shaking with fear, Swift realized that what looked like kindness was merely a business plan. To avoid being the next victim, he spotted a small, wandering lamb and quickly nudged it toward the safety of the forest, running away as fast as his legs could carry him. He learned that not everything that looks gentle is truly kind.
