In the middle of a vast, golden paddy field, a mother sparrow lived in a cozy nest with her two young chicks. The chicks loved watching the grain sway in the breeze, but they were still too small to fly.
One afternoon, the farmer who owned the field walked through the stalks. "The rice is ripe and ready," he announced to himself. "I will bring my workers tomorrow to start the harvest."
The little chicks trembled with fear. "Mother, if they harvest the rice, will they destroy our home too?" they chirped anxiously. The mother sparrow tried to calm them, saying, "Don't worry, little ones. He won't start tomorrow."
But the next day came and went, and no harvest happened. A few days later, the farmer returned, looking more determined. "I have hired extra hands from the village. Tomorrow, the harvest will definitely begin!"
The chicks were terrified. "Mother, should we fly away to a safer place right now?" they pleaded. The mother sparrow realized that waiting for others to act was a mistake. "We cannot rely on the farmer's words or his delays," she said firmly. "We must trust our own instincts and move before the danger arrives."
Early the next morning, as the sound of the farmer's tools echoed in the distance, the mother sparrow didn't wait for a signal. She quickly gathered her chicks and guided them through the tall stalks to a thick, safe hedge nearby. By acting swiftly and not relying on luck or promises, the family stayed safe while the field was harvested.
