In a lush valley lived a spirited girl named Nila. She was known for her courage and her kind heart. In the same village lived a bully named Kathir, who used fear to control others. One day, while Nila was returning from the market, Kathir blocked her path and tried to intimidate her. Instead of trembling, Nila looked him in the eye and said, "True strength lies in kindness, not in bullying others." This left Kathir furious, and he went to her home to spread rumors about her.
Nila's father, a woodcarver, decided to explore an ancient, mysterious castle deep within the forest. However, the guardian of the castle, a massive and fearsome beast, captured him and locked him in a dungeon. Distraught, Nila decided she had to save him. She traveled through the dense woods until she reached the towering gates of the castle.
When the beast confronted her, Nila made a brave plea. "Please, let my father go. I will stay here in his place," she offered. Moved by her selflessness, the beast agreed to release her father on the condition that Nila remain in the castle.
As Nila wept in her cell, the beast approached her, not with anger, but with a strange gentleness. He handed her a shimmering blue mirror. "Do not cry, Nila. Look into this mirror, and you will see where your father is," he said in a deep, rumbling voice. Looking into the glass, Nila saw her father lost in the woods, surrounded by a pack of hungry wolves.
Nila tried to escape to help him, but a wolf lunged at her. Suddenly, the beast appeared, roaring loudly to drive the wolves away. During the struggle, a wolf managed to scratch the beast's arm. Nila, seeing his injury, didn't run away. Instead, she felt a deep sense of gratitude and care. She gathered herbs to treat his wound and prepared a warm meal for him.
One evening, the beast told her, "You showed me kindness when I deserved none. Take this mirror. If you are ever in danger, call out through it, and I will come."
When Nila returned to the village, she found Kathir and a group of villagers harassing her father. In the chaos, the magic mirror fell and showed the beast's face. Terrified, the villagers, led by a vengeful Kathir, marched to the castle to slay the monster. Nila raced after them, shouting for them to stop, but they wouldn't listen.
At the castle, as the beast tried to defend himself, Kathir threw a spear that struck the beast. As the creature fell, Nila ran to him, weeping uncontrollably. Her tears of pure compassion fell upon the beast. Suddenly, a brilliant, golden light erupted from the castle, washing over everything. The beast's heavy, monstrous form dissolved, revealing a handsome prince.
"My own bitterness kept me in this form, but your love has broken the spell," the prince said softly. Nila and the prince lived happily in the castle, and the village learned that true beauty is found within.
