In a lush, green forest, all the animals lived together in harmony. One sunny afternoon, they gathered near the Great Banyan Tree for a forest festival. Laughter and chatter filled the air as everyone enjoyed the celebration.
Suddenly, a rabbit named Dash zoomed into the clearing, kicking up dust. "I am the fastest creature in this entire forest!" Dash boasted, puffing out his chest. "No one can even come close to my speed!"
From the edge of the crowd, a quiet tortoise named Slowpoke smiled gently. Dash noticed this and felt insulted. "Why are you laughing? Do you think you can challenge me?" Dash demanded.
Slowpoke replied calmly, "Speed is impressive, Dash, but it isn't everything. If you are so confident, let us have a race to the old rocky hill."
The animals cheered, and the race began. Dash took off like an arrow, leaving Slowpoke far behind in a cloud of dust. Dash looked back and saw that Slowpoke was barely a tiny speck in the distance.
"This is too easy," Dash thought. "I have plenty of time. I'll take a quick nap under this shady tree, and I'll still win easily."
Dash curled up and fell into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, Slowpoke kept moving. He didn't run, but he never stopped. Step by step, inch by inch, he crawled steadily forward. He passed the sleeping rabbit quietly.
When Dash finally woke up with a start, the sun was setting. He raced toward the finish line as fast as he could, but it was too late. Slowpoke was already there, being cheered by all the animals. Dash realized that his pride and laziness had cost him the race.
Moral
Slow and steady wins the race.
