Near a sparkling blue lake lived a happy duck family. There was a hardworking mother duck and her five tiny ducklings. Because the ducklings were still very small, they couldn't swim far into the deep water to find food on their own. Every morning, Mother Duck would paddle out to the reeds, find the freshest greens and tasty morsels, and bring them back to her babies.

The ducklings spent their days eating heartily and splashing in the shallow water. One sunny afternoon, Grandma Duck came to visit them. The ducklings were so excited that they waddled toward her, chirping, "Grandma! Grandma! Come play with us!"

Grandma Duck smiled and asked, "Where is your mother, little ones? Is she resting?"

"No, Grandma," one duckling replied. "Mother went out to find food. We have already finished our breakfast."

Grandma Duck looked at them thoughtfully and asked, "That is good. But did you see your mother eating her share today?"

The ducklings looked at each other in confusion. Finally, the smallest duckling whispered, "Oh no! We were so hungry that we ate everything Mother brought. We didn't leave anything for her."

Grandma Duck sat down and spoke gently. "Listen, my dear ones. You are small, and it is easy to be greedy when you are hungry. But remember, Mother works very hard to find that food for you. From now on, no matter how little the food is, always save a portion for her. Or, wait for her to join you before you start eating. Sharing is what makes a family strong."

The ducklings felt a pang of regret in their hearts. They realized that in their excitement to eat, they had forgotten the person who cared for them most. From that day on, whenever Mother Duck returned, the ducklings would wait patiently and ensure that Mother always had the best part of the meal first.
