In a lush, green forest, there lived a magnificent horse named Kabilan. Kabilan was incredibly fast, but his speed had given him a very big ego. He believed he was the king of the forest because no one could outrun him. He often spent his days mocking smaller, slower animals for their lack of speed.
One sunny afternoon, Kabilan spotted a tiny snail crawling slowly across a leaf. "Hey, little snail!" Kabilan laughed loudly. "At the rate you're going, you'll reach the next tree by next year! Watch me!" He galloped in a circle around the snail, kicking up dust to show off.
The snail looked up calmly and said, "Speed is not the only thing that matters, Kabilan. Every creature has its own way of moving through the world."
Kabilan found this answer insulting. "If you're so wise, let's have a race tomorrow morning!" he challenged. "If you win, I will respect you forever. But if I win, you must never mock anyone's pace again."
The snail agreed. That evening, the snail gathered all its friends. "Kabilan thinks we are useless because we are slow," the snail explained. "Let's show him that being small doesn't mean being weak. We need a plan." The snails all agreed to help.
The next morning, the race began. Kabilan took off like a lightning bolt, feeling very confident. He raced through the meadow, certain of his victory. However, as he passed a thick bush, a snail suddenly appeared on the path and started moving quickly ahead of him. Kabilan was stunned. "How did that snail get there so fast?" he wondered, and he pushed himself even harder.
A few minutes later, as he approached a large oak tree, another snail emerged from under a leaf and zipped past him. Kabilan’s heart began to race with confusion. "This is impossible!" he thought, galloping with all his might.
Finally, near the finish line, a third snail popped out from behind a rock and crossed the line just seconds before Kabilan arrived. Kabilan skidded to a halt, panting and exhausted. He couldn't believe it—a tiny snail had defeated him. He realized then that he hadn't raced one snail, but a whole team working together with great intelligence.
Feeling deeply ashamed, Kabilan approached the snail. "Please forgive me," he said softly. "I was foolish to judge you by your speed. Your teamwork and cleverness are far greater than my strength." From that day on, Kabilan remained the fastest horse in the forest, but he never teased another animal again.
Moral
Pride comes before a fall; intelligence and teamwork can overcome great strength.
