In the heart of a lush green forest lived a large elephant named Gajoo. Gajoo was known for his kind nature. However, one morning, Gajoo woke up feeling very unwell. A heavy fever had made his legs weak, and he could no longer walk through the thickets to find his favorite bamboo shoots and fruits.
Feeling exhausted and hungry, Gajoo rested under the shade of a massive banyan tree. As other animals passed by, Gajoo called out weakly, "Friends, I am too weak to move. Could someone please bring me some fruit and a little water?"
The deer and the rabbits looked at him and shook their heads. "Gajoo, you are so big! The amount of food you need is far more than what we can carry. We must get back to our families," they said, walking away.
Watching this from a branch above was Chintu, a small and energetic monkey. Chintu felt a pang of sadness seeing the mighty elephant so helpless. "He might be big, but he is hurting just like anyone else," Chintu thought. Chintu had a small stash of sweet bananas he had collected. He carefully climbed down, placed the bananas near Gajoo's trunk, and used a large, sturdy leaf to bring a small amount of fresh water from the nearby stream.
Day after day, Chintu shared his small portions of food with Gajoo. Because of Chintu's consistent care and kindness, Gajoo slowly regained his strength. Soon, the fever vanished, and Gajoo was able to stand tall once again.
Gajoo looked at the little monkey with eyes full of gratitude. "Chintu, when everyone else turned away, you stayed by my side. You didn't just give me food; you gave me hope. I will never forget this," Gajoo said warmly.
From that day on, an unusual but beautiful friendship blossomed. Gajoo would carry Chintu on his broad back, roaming the forest like a king with a tiny companion. Whenever Chintu wanted fruit from the highest branches, Gajoo would use his long trunk to pluck them and hand them over. If any larger animal tried to bother Chintu, Gajoo would stand firmly in front of him, protecting his little friend. The forest learned that kindness, no matter how small, creates bonds that last a lifetime.
