In a village near a vast forest lived two inseparable friends, Kavin and Vimal. They shared everything and promised to always stand by each other. One summer, they decided to embark on a challenging trek through the high mountains.
As they climbed higher under the scorching sun, Kavin began to feel extremely thirsty. His water flask was empty. Vimal, being cautious, advised him, "Kavin, we still have a long way to the summit. If we drink all our remaining water now, we might struggle later. Let's be patient and wait until we reach the next spring."
However, driven by intense thirst, Kavin ignored the advice and secretly drank from a small puddle he found along the path. Vimal noticed this and felt a bit hurt that Kavin hadn't trusted his judgment. Kavin, feeling stubborn, thought to himself, "Vimal is being too strict. He doesn't understand how much I am suffering."
After several days of trekking, as they were crossing a rushing river near the end of their journey, Kavin slipped on a mossy rock and fell into the deep, swirling water. He struggled to stay afloat, panicking as the current pulled him away. Without a second thought, Vimal leaped into the river. He fought against the heavy current and managed to grab Kavin, pulling him safely to the riverbank.
Once they were both safe and catching their breath, Kavin took a sharp stone and began carving words into a large, sturdy boulder: "Vimal, my friend, saved my life."
Vimal looked at him in surprise and asked, "Kavin, why are you carving that into a rock? It is much easier to just say it or write it in the sand."
Kavin smiled warmly and replied, "Vimal, I wrote my small grievances about you in my heart, and like writing in the sand, they have already washed away. But I am carving your kindness into this stone so that it remains forever. I can forgive a small mistake, but I will never forget a great act of love."
Moral
Forgive the small mistakes of friends, but engrave their kindness in your heart forever.
