In the prosperous kingdom of Chandrapur, a great mystery unfolded. The royal treasury had been robbed, and precious jewels were missing. The King and his guards searched everywhere, but the thief had left no clues—except for a single set of horse hoofprints near the palace gates.
Realizing that ordinary footprints wouldn't reveal the culprit, the King summoned Vikram, a man known for his sharp wit. Vikram knelt by the tracks and examined them closely. He stood up and announced loudly to the gathered crowd, 'These are no ordinary tracks! The thief has fitted his horse with extra-thick iron shoes to protect them from the rocky path. Hidden in the crowd, a man named Kavi felt his heart race. He was the thief. 'He’s too smart!' Kavi thought in terror. 'If I keep these heavy iron shoes, they will find me. I must replace them with much smaller, thinner ones immediately!' He rushed home in a panic.
The next morning, the King’s soldiers inspected every stable in the village. While most horses had natural hooves or standard shoes, Kavi’s horse stood out. It had tiny, unnaturally thin metal plates on its feet. The soldiers immediately recognized the pattern Vikram had described and captured Kavi.
As he was brought before the King, Kavi realized the truth. Vikram hadn't actually known about the iron shoes; he had simply made a clever guess to trigger the thief's fear. Kavi's attempt to hide his crime was exactly what revealed it.
