In the heart of a lush green forest, there was a sparkling blue pond. Near its banks lived two inseparable friends: Kapi, a playful monkey, and Manda, a calm and steady turtle.
One sunny afternoon, Kapi decided to try swimming in the pond. He splashed into the water, waving his arms and legs wildly, but he couldn't stay afloat. He kept sinking deeper and deeper. Meanwhile, Manda glided through the water with incredible ease and grace.
Watching Manda, Kapi felt a twinge of jealousy. 'Manda, how do you swim so effortlessly without any fear?' Kapi asked with curiosity.
'It is because of my shell,' Manda replied gently. 'My hard shell helps me stay buoyant and protects me in the water.'
Kapi thought to himself, 'If a shell makes swimming easy, then I should have one too!' In a foolish attempt to copy Manda, Kapi gathered a large pile of dry cotton from a nearby tree and tied it tightly around his waist with vines, creating a big, round ball on his back.
'Look! Now I have a shell just like yours!' Kapi shouted proudly before leaping into the pond.
But as soon as Kapi hit the water, disaster struck. The dry cotton soaked up the water instantly, becoming incredibly heavy and bloated. Instead of helping him float, the heavy mass of wet cotton began to pull Kapi down, pinning his arms to his sides. He struggled to breathe as he started to sink.
Manda saw the danger immediately. 'Hang on, Kapi!' Manda cried. Manda quickly called out to other turtle friends nearby. Together, they swam to Kapi and used their strong beaks to tear away the heavy, water-logged cotton.
Once the weight was gone, Kapi scrambled back to the shore, gasping for air. He felt deeply ashamed of his foolishness. He realized that trying to imitate someone else's way of life without understanding it only leads to trouble. From that day on, Kapi was happy being a monkey and left the swimming to the turtles.
Moral
Do not try to imitate others blindly; understand your own strengths and nature.
