In a small, peaceful village lived a farmer named Arul. Arul and his wife, Meera, had very little food stored for the winter. One rainy evening, a weary traveler knocked on their door. The traveler looked hungry and exhausted. Meera whispered anxiously, 'Arul, we barely have enough for ourselves. If we give this away, we will have nothing left.'
Arul smiled gently and replied, 'To turn away a guest is a poverty deeper than having no money. Sharing what we have is our duty.' They shared their meal with the traveler, feeling a warmth in their hearts that food could not provide.
The next morning, a grumpy neighbor named Vikram came to their gate. Vikram was known for his harsh words and short temper. He began shouting at Arul about a small boundary dispute, using rude and senseless insults. Meera felt her anger rising, but Arul remained calm. He listened to Vikram's outburst without reacting with anger or shouting back.
Seeing Arul's unwavering patience, Vikram’s loud voice slowly faded. He felt ashamed of his behavior. 'How can you stay so calm when I am being so unkind?' Vikram asked, looking down. Arul replied softly, 'True strength is not in fighting back, but in holding oneself steady when others lose their way.'
