In a peaceful village lived a young man named Arul. Arul was incredibly skilled and hardworking, but he had one flaw: he was often impulsive and lost his temper quickly. In the same village lived another young man named Mani. Mani was very calm and thoughtful, but he was extremely slow and often hesitated to take any action.
The village elder, Grandfather Somu, needed to appoint someone to lead the construction of a new community well. He was torn between the two. Arul could finish the work in record time, but his temper might cause arguments with the workers. Mani would ensure everything was perfect and peaceful, but his hesitation might mean the well wouldn't be finished before the summer heat arrived.
Grandfather Somu sat with both of them. He praised Arul for his brilliant energy but warned him about his quick temper. He admired Mani’s patience but noted his lack of speed. After careful thought, Somu decided to choose Arul. He realized that while Arul had faults, his strength and capability far outweighed his temper. Arul took the responsibility seriously and completed the well successfully. He learned to control his anger, and the village gained a great leader.
