In a small village lived a young man named Arjun with his elderly parents. His family was very poor, but they were known throughout the village for their unwavering honesty and dignity. One day, a wealthy merchant approached Arjun with a tempting offer. 'Take this bag of gold and help me hide a small mistake in our company's accounts,' the merchant whispered. 'You will never be poor again, and your parents will live in luxury.'
Arjun felt a heavy weight in his heart. He thought about his father’s aching back and his mother’s worn-out clothes. This money could solve all their problems instantly. However, he knew that by telling this lie, he would be destroying the reputation his family had built over generations. If he chose wealth through deceit, he would lose the respect of everyone he loved.
That night, Arjun couldn't sleep. He looked at his parents sleeping peacefully, knowing they had always lived with clean consciences. He realized that while poverty was a physical struggle, losing his honor would be a soul-crushing defeat. The next morning, Arjun went to the merchant and said, 'Sir, I cannot do this.
