Once, in a prosperous kingdom, there lived a young king who believed that only the strong and the young were useful. He made a harsh law that all elderly citizens must leave the kingdom, thinking they were a burden. Many families were heartbroken, separated from their beloved grandparents.

Among the citizens was a brave soldier who could not bear to leave his aging father. He built a secret, safe room in his home to care for him in silence. Years passed, and a terrible drought struck the land. The kingdom's food reserves were exhausted, and even when the rains finally arrived, the fields remained barren. No crops would grow.

The king and his ministers were in a panic. They had no wise elders to guide them through such a crisis. Seeing the suffering, the soldier went to his father and explained the situation. The old man calmly said, "Go to the paths leading to the granaries and observe the soil closely."

The soldier followed the advice. He noticed that along the dusty paths near the grain stores, tiny green sprouts were beginning to emerge after the rain. He carefully gathered these resilient seedlings and planted them in the main fields. When the king heard of this unexpected harvest, he rushed to the soldier.

"How did you find these seeds when the whole land was dry?" the king demanded. The soldier brought his father forward. The elderly man replied, "Your Majesty, for years, tiny grains have fallen from carts onto these paths. They did not die; they were simply waiting. With a little water and sunlight, they awaken. Wisdom, like these seeds, stays hidden until the right moment comes."

The king realized his grave mistake. He understood that the experience of the elderly was as vital as the rain itself. He immediately invited all the elders back, and the kingdom flourished once more.
