Deep within a lush forest lived a fox named Kavi. One summer, a terrible drought hit the woods, making it very difficult for Kavi to find enough food. His ribs were starting to show, and he felt weaker with each passing day.

Driven by hunger, Kavi wandered toward the edge of a nearby village. As he crept through the shadows, he noticed a golden retriever named Bruno sitting comfortably on a soft porch. Bruno looked healthy, shiny, and very well-fed.

Curious, Kavi approached him and whispered, "Greetings, friend! You look incredibly strong. Do you hunt great beasts in the forest to stay so well-fed?"

Bruno let out a friendly laugh. "Not at all, Kavi! I don't have to hunt a single thing. My human provides me with delicious meat and warm milk every single day. All I have to do is bark at strangers to guard the house."

Kavi was amazed. "That sounds like a dream! Come with me to the forest, and we can share the bounty of the wild together!"

But as Kavi stepped closer, he noticed something strange. Around Bruno's neck was a thick, scarred ring of skin, and he heard the heavy clinking of a metal chain attached to his collar. "What happened to your neck?" Kavi asked with concern.

Bruno’s smile faded. "Last month, I tried to chase a butterfly into the woods. My master was angry that I left my post, so he struck me with a stick. Now, to make sure I never wander off again, they chain me to this post every night."

Kavi felt a chill run down his spine. He realized that while Bruno had a full belly, he had no freedom to choose his own path. "You have plenty to eat, Bruno, but you are a prisoner in a beautiful house. I may be hungry, but I am the master of my own steps."

Without another word, Kavi turned away from the village and ran back toward the deep, wild woods. As he felt the wind against his fur, he realized that the freedom to roam was worth more than any feast.
