In a valley nestled near the mountains lived two close companions, Kavi and Arjun. They were inseparable, sharing every joy and sorrow. One bright morning, they decided to explore a dense forest trail that promised beautiful views.
As they walked deeper into the woods, the sunlight struggled to pierce through the thick canopy. Suddenly, a heavy rustling came from the bushes. A massive, angry wild boar burst out, charging straight toward them with tusks gleaming. Panic seized both boys.
Kavi, being quick and agile, immediately scrambled up a steep rocky ledge where the boar couldn't reach him. In his rush to save himself, he didn't even look back to see if Arjun was safe. Arjun, who wasn't as fast, found himself trapped in the open, staring at the approaching beast.
Arjun remembered his grandfather's wisdom: 'In the wild, silence is your best shield.' Trembling but determined, he lay flat on the forest floor. He closed his eyes, held his breath, and remained as still as a stone. The boar approached, sniffing loudly around Arjun's face. Seeing no movement, the animal assumed Arjun was lifeless and wandered away into the thicket.
Once the danger had passed, Kavi climbed down, his face pale with guilt. "Arjun, I am so sorry! I was terrified and I left you alone," Kavi stammered.
Arjun stood up, dusting off his clothes. He looked at Kavi with calm, sad eyes. "A friend who disappears when the storm arrives is not a friend worth keeping," Arjun said quietly. Without waiting for a response, he continued his journey alone, leaving Kavi to reflect on his selfishness.
Moral
A true friend is tested in times of danger, not in times of ease.
