In a kingdom nestled among high mountains lived Princess Luna. Luna had everything a child could dream of—silken gowns, sparkling jewels, and a room full of toys. Yet, Luna was never satisfied. She spent her days complaining that her toys were too small and her dresses were not bright enough.
One afternoon, she threw a tantrum in front of her mother. 'Mother, I want the finest things in the whole world! I want a mountain of sweets and a palace made of gold!' she demanded. Her mother sighed gently, 'Luna, true happiness comes from appreciating what we already have.' But Luna simply turned her back.
Suddenly, two shimmering forest sprites appeared before her. Seeing her endless desires, they smiled and said, 'Your wish is our command. From this moment, you shall have everything you ever ask for!' In a flash, Luna's room was overflowing with mountains of candy, glittering gems, and hundreds of beautiful dresses.
At first, Luna danced with joy. But soon, the joy turned into a burden. Because she had so many things, dozens of servants rushed into her room every minute. They constantly tried to dress her, comb her hair, or feed her sweets. She couldn't play quietly, she couldn't read her books, and she couldn't even sleep without someone fussing over her. Her room felt crowded, and her life felt noisy and chaotic.
'I can't breathe! I can't be alone!' Luna cried, running to her mother with tears in her eyes. 'I want my simple life back!'
The forest sprites reappeared, sensing her true realization. With a wave of their hands, they vanished the gold, the gems, and the crowds of servants. Luna was left in her quiet, modest room once more. She hugged her old teddy bear and felt a peace she had never known. She finally understood that having too much can take away the joy of having anything at all.
