In a wide, open field far from the village, a grand cultural festival was being prepared. The landscape was beautiful with golden crops, but the sun was merciless. There wasn't a single tree in sight to offer a moment of relief from the scorching heat.
Kavi, the star performer of the event, was resting comfortably under a large, colorful parasol. His assistant stood nearby, carefully holding the umbrella to ensure Kavi remained in the cool shade. As Kavi looked around, he noticed a young woman among the workers. She was holding her tiny infant close to her chest, both of them struggling under the intense sunlight.
Kavi watched as the baby's face turned red from the heat and tiny beads of sweat rolled down the mother's forehead. His heart ached for them. Without a second thought, he stood up and walked toward them.
"Sister, please, come and stand under this umbrella," Kavi said softly. "The baby looks very uncomfortable in this heat. You both can take the shade, and I will stand out here in the sun."
Surprised, the woman shook her head. "Oh no, sir! Please don't do that. You are the guest of honor. We can manage the heat; we are used to it," she replied, feeling hesitant.
But Kavi was determined. He called his assistant over and instructed him, "Bring the umbrella here. Let them stay in the shade. You can hold it for them while I stand here."
For the remainder of the afternoon, while the preparations continued, Kavi stood bravely in the direct sunlight while the mother and her child rested in the cool shade of the parasol. When the work was finally done, Kavi approached them again. He didn't just give them their small promised wage; he gave them a much larger sum of money to help with their needs. He knew that a small act of kindness could make a world of difference.
