Deep within a lush green forest, there lay a crystal-clear pond. In this pond lived two magnificent fish, one with shimmering blue scales and the other with brilliant golden fins. They were undeniably beautiful, but their beauty had filled them with immense pride.

"Look at us! The sunlight dances on our scales like diamonds," the blue fish would boast. Whenever a forest animal approached the water's edge, the two fish would leap high out of the water, performing acrobatic jumps to show off their grace. They loved the attention, unaware that their flashy displays were acting like a bright signal to any predator or hunter.

Living in the same pond was a calm and observant frog named Pip. Pip was known for his wisdom and his habit of thinking before acting. "My dear friends," Pip warned them one afternoon, "your constant jumping is drawing too much attention. In a pond this small, being noticed is dangerous. Please, stay calm and hide among the reeds."

But the fish only laughed. "You are just a plain, green frog, Pip. You don't understand the joy of being admired!" they mocked, before splashing back into the water.

One evening, two fishermen wandered near the pond. They were carrying heavy baskets already filled with fish from earlier catches. As they rested by the bank, they spotted the two fish leaping in the sunlight.

"Look at those two!" one fisherman exclaimed, his eyes widening. "They are the most beautiful fish I have ever seen. I bet this pond is full of treasures like them."

His companion nodded. "Our baskets are too full to carry more today. Let us return early tomorrow morning with larger nets. We will catch every single one of those beauties."

After the fishermen left, Pip approached the fish with a heavy heart. "Do you see now? Your vanity has put us all in danger. We must find a new home immediately."

"We can swim faster than any net," the golden fish replied arrogantly. "Do not worry about us."

Realizing the fish would not listen, Pip gathered his family and a few sensible fish friends and quietly migrated to a much larger, safer lake nearby. The two vain fish stayed behind, confident in their own skill.

At dawn the next day, the fishermen returned exactly as planned. They cast a wide, heavy net across the area where the fish played. The two fish tried to dart away, but the net was too quick and too strong. As they were lifted from the water, they realized too late that Pip’s warning was the only thing that could have saved them.
