The railway station was buzzing with the usual evening rush. Inside one of the train coaches, a group of college students sat together, talking loudly and laughing amongst themselves. They were in a hurry to settle into their seats as soon as the train arrived.
Shortly after, an elderly man and his fifteen-year-old son, Kavin, boarded the train. Kavin sat by the window, his eyes wide with wonder. As the train began to move, he pointed outside and exclaimed, "Father, look! Why are the trees racing backward? Are they playing a game with us?"
The students nearby exchanged smirks. "Is this kid for real?" one whispered. "He talks like a toddler," another mocked.
Kavin continued his excitement, "Oh, look at the clouds! They look just like floating pieces of cotton candy! And the blue of the sky is so bright and beautiful!"
Frustrated by the noise, one of the students turned to the father and asked sharply, "Sir, why is your son behaving so strangely? He is making a scene over such simple things. Is there something wrong with him?"
The father looked at the students with a calm, gentle smile. "Please do not judge him so quickly," he said softly. "Kavin was born blind. He only recently received his sight through a successful surgery. This is his very first journey seeing the world with his own eyes. To him, the trees, the clouds, and even the moving landscape are miraculous wonders he has waited a lifetime to see."
A heavy silence fell over the group of students. The laughter died instantly, replaced by a deep sense of shame. They realized that what they had called 'childish' was actually a profound moment of joy for a boy who had lived in darkness. They looked at each other, feeling regretful for their unkind words. They eventually apologized to Kavin and spent the rest of the journey listening to his wonderful descriptions of the world.
Moral
Never judge someone before understanding their journey.
