Long ago, King Vikram ruled over a prosperous and peaceful kingdom. Although he was loved by his people, a shadow of doubt clouded his mind. He had a vast army and many servants, but he often wondered if their loyalty was born of true devotion or merely a desire for his wealth.

Seeking clarity, the King consulted his wisest advisor. The advisor suggested a subtle test. "To know a man's heart, Sire, do not present him with a challenge, but with a temptation," he whispered.

Following this advice, the King traveled to the bustling marketplace in disguise. As he walked through the crowded streets, he suddenly dropped a heavy silk pouch, spilling a shower of glittering gold coins and precious gems onto the dusty path. The effect was instantaneous. The guards and servants who were accompanying him, driven by sudden greed, rushed forward. They scrambled over one another, fighting and shouting to grab as much gold as they could.

Amidst the chaos, one young guard named Kavi remained perfectly still. He did not even glance at the shining treasures on the ground. His eyes remained fixed on the King, his hand steady on his spear, ensuring the monarch's safety amidst the surging crowd.

The King approached Kavi and asked, "Kavi, why do you stand idle? These jewels could change your life forever. Why not join the others?"

Kavi bowed respectfully and replied, "My King, my life belongs to my duty. To leave your side for gold would be to lose my honor, and honor is worth more than any gem."

Deeply moved by this display of integrity, King Vikram realized he had found the successor he had been searching for. Since the King had no heirs, he appointed Kavi as the crown prince. Kavi eventually ascended the throne, ruling with the same unwavering loyalty and wisdom that had once protected the King in the marketplace.
