In a peaceful village, a laundryman named Somu lived with his two companions: Mani, a loyal dog, and Visu, a hardworking donkey. Mani's job was to guard the house, while Visu helped Somu by carrying heavy bundles of clothes. They lived together in perfect harmony.
One afternoon, Somu returned from work feeling extremely exhausted. He fell into a deep sleep under the shade of a tree. Seeing her master asleep, Mani also curled up nearby and drifted off. Suddenly, a thief crept toward the house, hoping to steal Somu's belongings.
As the thief approached, Visu sensed the danger. He began to bray loudly to alert everyone. The sudden, piercing noise startled the thief, who quickly turned and fled into the forest. The loud commotion woke Somu and Mani instantly.
Somu was frustrated and angry. "Why are you making such a racket? I was trying to rest!" he shouted. Visu tried to signal that he had spotted an intruder, but Somu was too tired to listen to reason. In his irritation, Somu swatted Visu with a small stick to make him be quiet.
Visu stood there, feeling sad and misunderstood. As he lowered his head, he remembered a lesson his grandmother used to teach him: 'Focus on your own path and do not disturb the peace of others.' Although Visu had successfully protected the house, he realized that his timing and manner had caused trouble for his master. He learned that while being helpful is good, one must always be mindful of the situation.
