In a peaceful village lived a wise farmer named Somu. He had four sons who were quite different from him. While Somu worked hard every day, his sons were incredibly lazy. They spent their time idling away and had no interest in helping with the farm.
One evening, Somu called his sons aside. He looked serious and said, "My sons, I have a secret to tell you. Deep beneath our family farmland, there lies a magnificent treasure of gold and jewels. It has been hidden there for generations."
The sons' eyes lit up with greed. "Where exactly is it, Father?" they asked eagerly.
Somu sighed, "My memory is not as sharp as it used to be, and I cannot pinpoint the exact spot. But I know it is somewhere within our fields."
Not long after, Somu passed away. Driven by the desire to become rich overnight, the four brothers rushed to the fields. They began to dig with all their might. They dug through the hard earth, turning over every inch of the soil, searching for a chest of gold.
Days turned into weeks. They dug deeper and deeper, but they found no gold. However, because they had tilled the soil so thoroughly, they discovered a natural underground spring that began to water the land. The ground became soft, moist, and perfectly prepared for planting.
A wise neighbor passing by noticed their hard work. "You boys have done a wonderful job!" he remarked. "The soil is perfectly turned, and with all this water, if you plant some seeds now, you will have a magnificent harvest."
The brothers decided to try it. They used a small amount of savings to buy high-quality vegetable seeds. Because the soil was so well-prepared and watered, the crops grew faster and healthier than ever before. When harvest time came, they sold their produce at the market and earned a significant amount of money.
As they sat together counting their earnings, they realized the truth. "Father didn't lie to us," the eldest said. "The treasure wasn't gold buried in the ground; it was the reward of our own hard work."
From that day on, they never let laziness take over their lives again.
