It was the peak of a scorching summer. Two travelers, Kavi and Arjun, were trekking across a vast, dry landscape. The sun beat down mercilessly, turning the ground into a furnace. Every step felt heavy, and their throats were parched with thirst.
As they wandered in search of relief, a massive, ancient Banyan tree appeared on the horizon. Its sprawling branches stretched wide like a giant green umbrella, casting a deep, cool shadow over the earth. Birds chirped softly from its leaves, creating a peaceful sanctuary.
Exhausted, the two friends rushed toward the tree and collapsed into its shade. The immediate relief was wonderful; the heat seemed to melt away. However, Kavi was feeling particularly hungry. He quickly climbed the sturdy branches, hoping to find some sweet wild fruits to eat. After searching for a few minutes, he climbed back down, looking disappointed.
"What a useless tree!" Kavi grumbled. "It provides nothing but shade. It doesn't even have a single fruit to satisfy our hunger."
Arjun looked at him calmly and replied, "Kavi, don't be so ungrateful. Look around you. Without this shade, we would have collapsed under the sun long ago. This tree has given us the most important thing right now—life and rest. We should be thankful for the shelter it provides."
Kavi looked up at the lush green canopy and realized how wrong he had been. He felt a sense of peace and realized that even if a gift isn't exactly what we want, it might be exactly what we need.
