In the green valley of Neelagiri, lived a boy named Arjun. Arjun was as fast as the wind. Whenever there was a race in the village, Arjun was always the first to cross the line. The villagers loved watching his incredible speed.
One sunny morning, the village elder announced a grand race. Arjun took his position at the starting line. As the whistle blew, the crowd erupted in cheers, "Go, Arjun, go!" Fueled by their energy, Arjun sprinted like a lightning bolt and won easily. Next, a strong young man competed, and the crowd cheered him on until he too crossed the finish line first.
Then came the final round. An elderly man with a walking stick and a young boy who limped due to an old injury stepped up to the line. Suddenly, the cheering stopped. The crowd became quiet, watching with pity rather than excitement. Arjun started running, but as he looked back, he saw the struggle in the old man's eyes and the pain in the boy's face.
Arjun slowed down. He realized that winning this race alone wouldn't feel like a true victory. Instead of sprinting ahead, he walked back to the elderly man and the limping boy. He offered his hand to the old man and let the boy lean on his shoulder. Together, the three of them moved slowly toward the finish line. They crossed it at the exact same moment.
To Arjun's surprise, the entire village stood up and erupted into the loudest applause he had ever heard. It was much louder than the cheers for his solo victory. Confused, Arjun approached the village elder and asked, "Sir, why is everyone cheering so much more now? I was much faster before."
The elder smiled warmly and said, "Arjun, they cheered for your speed before, but they are applauding your heart today. A true champion doesn't just run ahead of others; a true champion makes sure no one is left behind."
Moral
True greatness lies not in being faster than others, but in lifting others up with you.
