In a peaceful village lived Somu and his wife Meena. They lived a simple life, tending to their small garden and helping their neighbors. Somu worked hard, and Meena kept their home filled with warmth and kindness. One afternoon, a wandering monk passed by their gate. Seeing their simple life, the monk said, 'Why do you waste your time in these worldly chores, Somu? Leave everything behind, come with me to the mountains, and live as an ascetic. Only then will you find true peace.'
Somu paused to reflect. He thought about the joy in Meena's eyes when they shared a meal, the satisfaction of seeing a flower bloom in their garden, and the peace he felt after helping an elderly neighbor. He realized that being honest, kind, and responsible within his home was its own form of worship.
He approached the monk and said gently, 'Sir, I find great purpose in my life here. By living truthfully, caring for my family, and serving my community, I am practicing virtue every single day. If a man can find righteousness while fulfilling his duties at home, what is the need to wander alone in search of it?' The monk smiled, recognizing that Somu had found the divine within his own virtuous life.
