In a quiet village lived an elderly farmer named Madhav. He was a kind man, though he possessed very little. All he had was a small patch of land and a tiny store of grain. Madhav had a son named Arjun, who loved him dearly.
One year, a great drought hit the village. Food became scarce. Despite his own worries, Madhav saw a hungry traveler passing by and gave him his last handful of grain. Arjun watched this and asked, "Father, we have so little. Why do you give away what we need?"
Madhav smiled gently and said, "My son, the joy of sharing is much sweeter than the satisfaction of eating alone."
Years passed, and Madhav grew very old and fell ill. As his final moments approached, Arjun sat by his side, weeping. But Madhav looked peaceful. Just before he passed, he used his last bit of strength to ensure a small bag of seeds reached a struggling neighbor. As he closed his eyes, he had a serene smile on his face. Arjun realized then that while death is the hardest thing to face, leaving this world after having shared one's life with others makes that departure beautiful and sweet.
