In a peaceful village, a young boy named Arjun lived with his grandfather. One morning, the village was buzzing with excitement because a grand ritual was being planned. People were preparing to offer animals as sacrifices and pour precious ghee into sacred fires to please the gods. Arjun's grandfather was also preparing for a large ceremony. However, while walking through the garden, Arjun came across a small, white lamb. The lamb looked frightened and was shivering in the corner.
As Arjun gently stroked the lamb, he felt its tiny heart beating rapidly against his palm. He realized that this little creature was alive, just like him. He ran to his grandfather and asked, 'Grandpa, why must we take a life to show our devotion? Can't we show our love in another way?' His grandfather looked at the trembling lamb and then at Arjun's tearful eyes. He realized that no amount of ritual or ghee could ever outweigh the value of a single life. From that day on, they chose to celebrate through kindness and helping others instead of rituals involving harm. The little lamb lived happily in their garden, a symbol of their new path of compassion.
