In a peaceful village lived a young boy named Kavi and his grandfather, Somu. Kavi was full of energy, but he had one big problem: he had no patience. He wanted everything to happen instantly.
One summer, the village announced a special challenge. A young person who could sit in meditation for an entire day without speaking or eating would be rewarded with a beautiful golden bell. Kavi was thrilled. 'Grandpa, I can do this easily!' he exclaimed.
Grandpa Somu looked at him kindly and said, 'Kavi, true discipline isn't just about sitting still. It is a strength of the soul that comes from long practice. It is not something you can just pick up in a single day.'
When the challenge began, Kavi sat down with great determination. But within minutes, his stomach began to growl. Soon, the chirping of birds and the rustling of leaves felt like loud noises to him. He felt restless and frustrated. He tried to close his eyes, but his mind kept racing. After only an hour, Kavi couldn't take it anymore. He stood up, grumbling, and walked away.
Meanwhile, a quiet boy named Arjun sat perfectly still. He seemed to be in a different world, calm and undisturbed. He completed the entire day with grace.
Kavi felt defeated. 'Why couldn't I do it, Grandpa?' he asked tearfully.
'Kavi,' Grandpa replied softly, 'to climb a high mountain, your legs must already be strong. To practice great discipline, your mind must already be trained. You cannot jump to the end without walking the path. Start small, practice patience in little things, and one day, your soul will be ready for the big challenges.'
Kavi understood. From that day on, he stopped rushing and started practicing patience in everything he did.
