Long ago, in a kingdom near the lush forests, lived a brave commander named Vikram. Vikram was known for his strength and his ability to face any enemy without fear. One summer, a neighboring warlord named Rudra led an army to attack Vikram's lands. A fierce battle broke out between the two forces.
In the heat of the fight, Vikram managed to defeat Rudra in a duel. As Rudra fell from his horse, his leg was badly injured, and he lay on the ground, groaning in pain. Vikram's soldiers rushed to his side, shouting, "Commander, he is our enemy! Finish him now and prove your greatness!"
Vikram looked down at Rudra. He saw not a mighty warlord, but a man trembling in pain and fear. Vikram knew that winning a battle showed his skill, but he believed there was something more. He lowered his sword and signaled his men to stop. "Do not strike him," Vikram commanded. "He is wounded and helpless. Treat him as a guest in need."
Instead of taking a life, Vikram ordered his healers to tend to Rudra's wounds and provided him with food and shelter. As Rudra recovered, he was deeply moved. "Why did you save me when you had every reason to destroy me?" Rudra asked, humbled.
Vikram replied softly, "To defeat an enemy is valor, but to show mercy to a fallen foe is the ultimate strength." Touched by this kindness, Rudra returned to his land not as an invader, but as a lifelong ally. The two kingdoms lived in peace for many years to come.
