One summer, the village held an annual craft competition. Arjun decided to build a large wooden chariot. He worked quickly, wanting to impress everyone. In his haste, he accidentally cracked one of the main wheels. No one noticed the crack, and Arjun thought, 'If I don't say anything, everyone will think I am the best.'
Meera, on the other hand, was making a small wooden bird. While finishing it, she noticed a tiny splinter on the wing. It was almost invisible, but to her, it felt like a huge flaw. She felt a sense of shame about the imperfection.
When the judges arrived, Arjun presented his chariot with a proud smile, hiding the crack with a piece of cloth. Meera approached the judges and said, 'Please forgive me. My bird has a small flaw. I feel embarrassed to show it like this. May I fix it and bring it back tomorrow?'
Arjun laughed, 'Why be ashamed, Meera? Just show it! No one will care.'
The head judge looked at Arjun's hidden crack and then at Meera's honesty. He announced, 'Arjun has the skill, but he lacks the character to face his mistakes. Meera may have made a mistake, but her sense of shame and her desire to do what is right makes her far more honorable.'
Meera was awarded the prize for integrity. Arjun realized that true strength isn't about being perfect or being loud; it is about having the character to stand by the truth.
