In a peaceful village lived a hardworking farmer named Madhav. He had a young son named Arjun. Madhav always taught Arjun one important thing: 'Son, life will throw many challenges at you, but never let yourself fall into the trap of extreme poverty.'
One year, a terrible drought hit the village. The crops failed, and the family's savings dwindled. To support Arjun's education, Madhav had to take a job at a wealthy merchant's warehouse. The merchant was a harsh man who treated his workers poorly. He paid very little and often spoke rudely to Madhav.
One evening, as Madhav sat tiredly by the lamp, Arjun asked, 'Father, why do you endure such insults? Why don't we just leave?' Madhav looked at his son with weary eyes and said, 'Arjun, sleeping near a fire might burn your skin, but living in poverty burns your dignity, your peace, and your future. A fire is a temporary danger, but poverty is a constant shadow that makes everything difficult. I work hard now so that we never have to beg for our basic needs later.'
Through sheer perseverance and careful planning, Madhav eventually managed to rebuild their small farm. Arjun grew up understanding that while physical hardships are tough, the struggle of poverty is a much deeper burden to carry.
